Two ways to split
Split — pay as you go
For when different people pay for different things. Record who paid for each expense and who it was for. Items shared by only some people are divided only among them.
Example: Asha pays ₹900 for a cab for Asha, Ben and Chetan (₹300 each). Ben pays ₹300 for snacks for Ben and Chetan (₹150 each). Asha is owed ₹600, so Ben pays Asha ₹150 and Chetan pays Asha ₹450.
Shared Pot — chip in first
For when everyone puts in a fixed amount up front and one person holds the money and pays for things. PantherSplits reconciles the pot at the end, whether it was underspent or overspent.
Example: Four friends put in ₹500 each (₹2,000) and Raj holds the pot. They spend ₹1,600, leaving ₹400, so Raj refunds ₹100 to each of the other three. If they had spent ₹2,400 instead, each of the other three would pay Raj ₹100.
How to split expenses with PantherSplits
- Add people. Type each name and press Enter. In Shared Pot mode, set how much each person puts in and mark who holds the pot.
- Log expenses. Enter what it was and the amount. Choose who paid (in Split mode) and who it was for.
- Check the balances. See what each person paid, their fair share, and whether they get money back or owe.
- Settle up and share. Follow the suggested payments and share the summary on WhatsApp or as a link.

Is PantherSplits free?
Yes. PantherSplits is completely free to use. There is no account, no signup and no subscription.
Do I need to download an app or create an account?
No. It runs in any modern web browser on your phone or computer. Just open the page and start adding people and expenses.
Where is my data stored?
Only in your own browser, on your device. Nothing is uploaded to a server. When you share a link, the whole project is packed into the link itself, so share it only with people you trust.
How does PantherSplits work out who owes whom?
It adds up what each person paid and what each person's fair share is, then suggests the fewest payments needed to make everyone even.
What is Shared Pot mode?
Use Shared Pot when everyone puts money in first, for example ₹500 each, and one person holds the pot and pays for things. PantherSplits then tells you how much the holder should refund if money is left over, or how much everyone should top up if the pot was overspent.
Can I split an expense between only some people?
Yes. In both modes you can choose who each expense was for, so an item only a few people shared is divided only among them.
How do I share the result with my group?
